Are you, like me (Mom), wondering what is happening with our missionary?
On the blog Mormon Mission Prep Jimmy tells us about the MTC.
Here we have Sister Newman's letter home about her first days at the MTC.
This article in June 2000 The New Era, the LDS magazine for youth, was written in the "old days" when families could go to an orientation meeting with their missionary before separating. Now it is a very quick, almost surgical, process at the curb. The missionary is whisked away before many tears have time to be shed. I barely got my last hug. It is probably easier for the missionary this way, as they are immediately moving forward into their new life with a new friend at their side. Other than that, this will give us some idea of our guy's new life.
If you miss him, write to him. Encouraging, uplifting, friendly letters. Here is some good advice on letter writing.
You can write to him for free while he is at the MTC at DearElder.com and for just the cost of postage when he is out in the field.
Thanks for the link to Sister Newman's blog! WE hope your son has a fantastic time in Korea. My grandfather was one of the first missionaries to enter Korea, so the people there have always been close to our heart.
